Hi everyone, I'm in my 20s, from the UK and very new to the prepping world.

I'm here to learn all about what it means to be a prepper and how I can start to gain the appropriate knowledge.

What skills should I start developing today (from my home, in lockdown!), and what are the first things I should begin to think about?

I am excited to begin!

howdy from a Texan .... and welcome to the forum and family...there's quite a few knowledgeable folks here that'll gladly tell ya what you need to know,or at least point ya in the right direction and/or give ya a good idea or 2..and by all means jump right on in with any replies you have on a topic.

Welcome from Fin,

a though wake up call, but Brent put it there, security is going to be something you must focus on in the days coming..

Hi Dora, you are in the right place, just read, take notes, find like minded persons you can trust and look for a secure place to hide if the looting and house to house plundering begins. Make a secure room in your flat, get enough water, or water filters. Get some candles for light, some gas lighters and matches. Get enough tins of what you like to eat and can eat out of the tin with a spoon without needing to wash and waste your water. Find something to defend yourself with. A long stick with a point or a knife fixed with strong tape, even if you lose the fight, HURT someone!! Depending where you are, get your secure room in a place with no windows but a possible escape way in case of fire or black out the windows with paper and cardboard. Let no light to be seen from outside at night, it is a dead giveaway.
Your mental health will be needed, if you tend to scream, get a big thick cloth to scream into and not give yourself away to someone looking for a victim. Get some pain killers, some first aid stuff, a small backpack if you decide to run or have to after the flat is trashed. Get a small tent. Find a small wooded area to hide in. Get some good walking shoes, warm clothes and a way to transport your stuff without having to carry the weight. A little wagon or such. Camoflage the wagon and yourself to look sick, dirty and not worth looking at twice to be avoided. The is the Grayman theory. Do not look interesting, wealthy, well-fed or sexy. Make it hard to even see if you are a woman. Dirt and not make-up. Take showers to be clean, but wear dirty clothes to smell grungey. No fancy soaps and perfumes more. They smell too nice. BE careful with whom you speak. Act stupid and maybe even eccentric or crazy. Flash your teeth and growl like a dog to scare idiots away. Any questions, just ask and be specific. GP
