still remember when I waslittle with tummy ache,my grandma gave some strange drops,3-4 drops in half a glass of water and the ache was gone, later when I asked at my local pharmacy do they have those drops, lady looked at me and nearly shouted no of course not,it was nearly pure opium, but it took my tummy ache away ;)

In our sustainability planning, chicken and rabbits, so far, are the main idea (along with the eggs from said chickens)...for protein.

However, other less traditional sources include birds, snakes, and frogs...all of which are quite abundant here, and probably even moreso after SHTF. Sure, they may not be the best, but they will be ready sources of protein. And, I imagine we'll come up with some creative ways to have them. I'm trying to get the wife on board with trying some of it now...but so far, she isn't biting. Food snobs.....
I cleaned four more rabbits this morning. Wasn't quite as traumatic as the first time, and I was a little quicker this time. More importantly, I didn't slice my finger open this time! I tried frying some rabbit today, and it was a little tough. The barbeque I did first was amazingly good, but I'm looking for other ways to cook them. The barbeque was slow cooked in the oven before finishing up on the grill.

Hey BrentS-
I always boil the rabbit first, then fry it, bake it, barbeque it...tons of ways to fix it! Boiling it first though, seems to assure its not tough.

Blessings,
Shenandoah

I learnt a trick,as the rabbit is very lean meat, put some fat bacon along,it will not cover the taste of the rabbit, but in a stew it will give the rabbit a chance to be a-okay and not dry

think my jerky was ok,as my brother liked it,sad it would be a great snack watching a game with some beer and he wanted to know what meat, what spices and how I made it
