Location
Washington State - between 2 mountains and a river
well, when it happened, they said more or less zero, but with that many police and military involved,it was strange,so the official
version here is ; "tax evasion and money laundry" ,uhm, yup ;)
they also said here;the amount of computers, memory banks, thumb drives found there, encrypted, was beyond the mind..all in the
hands of our intel officials,in the first days they commented that those were very "interesting" and what findings there was
would be later told, then,it was total silence...nothing.

but it created a small buzz in some groups I'm in, in the social media here, some of my fellow reservists thought the "money and taxes" version
was and is just for general population here,as too many properties had been sold to dudes from the east, and those were too close
to important shipping lanes here, that one in particular mentiond in the OP.

it took a good two days before our officials said something, but they still keep silent.
one thing to notice is ; all trainings for various reserve units here, have increased, the intensity levels in those trainings are much, much higher..
and as from our latest training we got clear guide lines;any contact from a dubious origin, must be reported, all contact info forwarded
and the guys in mil.intel will sort out what it is.

the latest is,the whole board for that "company" is now 1 man from here and 1 from Latvia, and the finn is in "charge" and they still claim
to be in the tourism business ;)

those red dots are properties that russkies bought
under several years,as holiday places (not used for that,as no one seems to be there during the holiday season)the red dotted line shows where the shipping lane goes..you all see how easy it would be to cut that off..for some people money is all
and they would sell properties to the devil him self if he had enouhg money..

As a kid in Alaska, we (as kids) found an old hidden bunker deep in the mountains. It was just a small bolthole, but definitely Russian. Had been there a long time. We reported it of course, as we were service brats. They cordoned off the area for a week or so, then just a concrete slab where it was, when we went back.

(well, deep in the mountains is a relative term. I'm sure we weren't but a couple miles or so away from the complex when we found it...but to us, it was "deep" in, LOL). It was certainly wilderness though.

I wonder... Would it be far enough from the border to be worthwhile as a listening post of some sort?

Seems pretty sloppy as a safehouse, or any kind of undercover setup.

Sleepers to sabotage the shipping lane? If so, they blew it.

Helicopter pads and camouflaged pools. The quiet life.

Russkies have the the shipping lane covered, the Navel base in Turku covered and also a staging area for the inlet into the Bay of Bothnia which would also cover Sweden, hmmm?

your thought process are similar to mine...

don't know why they let this happen,to be able to close off that shipping lane would mean one helluwa big problem in time of crises..

and to re-open it from some "little green men" would cost blood, not from those politicians ofcourse who screwd up..

Hey Jontte, is the water warm enough to swim in? Reason I'm asking, if it's not I wonder how far the ladders on the piers extends down into the water, these are not high piers, maybe used for underwater vessel of some sorts and/or an like a low raiding craft similar to the Zodiak could utilize these ladders. Would your Country close off the airspace over a simple tax fraud scheme and use the Military for such a raid.. sounds extreme unless it's more than just a civil matter?

Mav,close air space over tax fraud, nope, there is more in this story they wanna share, you can swim in those waters, summer time, warm enough, with the right gear, divers can operate there in winter, something is happening and they sure kepp a tight lid over things...

spotted a story earlier over body bags, most major hospitals recieved thousands of them, most military hospitals again thousands, military depots same story, they even had pics of large pallets of those bags.
as I'm working now at a hospital,I know we don't use body bags for dead and over a casual conversation with a doc,the answer was vague at best..

Now I'm just playing an armchair analyzer but this is looking to be more asymmetric usage by the russkies against shipping in times of crises?

I treat most Finnish news stories regarding Russia with a pinch of salt. The Finnish press is full of anti Russian propaganda that fuels a lot of fear in the population.

Jontte, here's the plan. Let's solve this mystery.

Your in the military, correct? And your intelligent, are you not?

So it's not too much of a stretch to say you are Military Intelligence. So just go to Photoshop, or paint, or some app, and print yourself out an ID saying you are the commander of the unit, PE TIEDOS actual, and commandeer an APC. Or an attack helicopter or whatever the head MILINT guy would use.

Now, there can't be many MILINT guys in Finland, they probably all know each other. So, to fool everyone else, you're going to have to kidnap them. You need a van, and some black hoods and zip ties, and a brick. It shouldn't be a problem. Oh, get their families too. You can't be too careful on an OP like this.

Now, once you get to the island, on your helicopter or in your APC (just roll the windows up real tight) the Russians aren't going to tell you much. So you need to sneak off and change into a track suit so you can pretend to be Russian. It's easy, just say "Blyet" a lot, and walk like a gorilla. Once the Russians on the island have told you everything we will move on to the next step.

Man, this is easy! Finland should hire me as a Contractor, can you bring this up at your next Military get together?
