A 30% unemployment would definitely fit my idea of a depression.https://reason.com/2020/03/27/pande...and-shutdowns-are-a-recipe-for-social-unrest/
Pandemic-Related Unemployment and Shutdowns Are a Recipe for Social Unrest
That's a huge concern as forecasters expect the U.S. unemployment rate in the months to come to surpass that seen during the depths of the Great Depression.
Could the stalled economy we've inflicted on ourselves in our frantic efforts to battle the COVID-19 pandemic lead to civil disorder? History suggests that's a real danger.
I’m well aware of the effect this is going to have on the economy and the cost to everyone in the long term. It is a hard call to know where to stand on the issue of wether are we over reacting to this virus. The hospitals being overrun isn’t just a possibility, it’s becoming a fact in real time. This thing is mushrooming all over the country and rural medical facilities are just as underprepared as the large ones are. So in my medical system is going to be hit hard wether we close the economy or not. I wish I had a crystal ball to see the outcome of all this.I don't think this is only in America but also the Western world
The Wuhan Virus Has Exposed Modern Americans’ Disconnect from Reality

I don’t agree with everything in the article but he does have valid points, shutting everything down may make things worse, if the economy collapses the outcome may be worse than the virus.I’m well aware of the effect this is going to have on the economy and the cost to everyone in the long term. This is what I've been trying to tell people but they just laughed at me.We in the world got complacent period!
I can live without wholefoods, so close the stores and lets see how these sick-out people do when the unemployment ends.
This is a bit ridiculous, but I know for sure I wouldn't want to be working in a grocery store right now.Whole Paycheck, er, I mean Whole Foods employees planning to strike.
https://www.vice.com/en_us/article/5dmeka/whole-foods-employees-are-staging-a-nationwide-sick-out
Whole Foods Employees Are Staging a Nationwide 'Sick-Out'
On March 31, Whole Foods employees will call in sick to demand paid leave for all workers who stay home or self-quarantine during the crisis, free coronavirus testing for all employees, and hazard pay of double the current hourly wage for employees who show up to work during the pandemic.
There was a time when unions were needed. When kids were forced to work long hours and conditions were unsafe. Those times have long been gone and so is the usefulness of unions. There are lots of people that are without work right now. I don’t believe it would be too hard for them to find new employees at the moment or in the near future.I can live without wholefoods, so close the stores and lets see how these sick-out people do when the unemployment ends.
If I was young and healthy I’d do whatever it took to feed my family. Just think of all the health care workers that are at high risk with this. Groceries are an essential business in my opinion, so firing all the ones on strike during this just makes sense to me. I fit that history risk group as well with my wife even higher. Luckily my kids are all grown, (though don’t always act it), and I don’t need to work during this. Am greatful I’ve always worked hard and saved....Brent, in normal times, I would strongly agree with you. But during this crisis, if you have the option to sit home and receive a smaller unemployment check or take a job that would expose you to the public, even at a greater income, what would you chose. I am not sure how many people would actually jump at one of those jobs given the current situation. Not me, but then again, I am in the high risk group.
OH this is just TOO DELICIOUS!

"On Google Ads we are blocking all ads capitalizing on the coronavirus, and we’ve blocked tens of thousands of ads over the last six weeks."
