One of the local weeds I haven't tried yet is Polk Salad (Poke Sallet). Most of the places I see them growing are almost certainly sprayed by insecticides.

I have eaten dandelions and wood sorrel from my yard (I don't spray any chemicals). Those are the only two edible weeds I have identified in my own yard. I'm sure there are more, but those and white clover (also edible I think) are mostly what grows wild in the yard.

I love dandelions in salad or made into wine, makes a very good wine. Sorrel is among my favorite as well. I also love henbit, plantain and betony. All grow well around my parts

Betony (FLORIDIAN)

the greens can be eaten like salad or cooked like collards. the tubers

can be used like radishes or eaten alone. these are a delicacy for chefs. they call them Chiense Artichoke. They are good, make sure you clean well as with any other rooted veggie to avoid pin worms.

Henbit

is also very useful. The stems, flowers and leaves are edible kinda tastes like Kale.

this is just a couple. Weeds are a topic I write on often as many do not know what weeds can be eaten or are useful. I never kill weeds in my yard. So many can be made into teas, tinctures or just eaten. It is free food so to speak. I hope this helps and if anyone has questions i would be happy to help if I can.

I smoked enough pot as a teenager for three lifetimes, but once I had my first child stopped and haven’t touched it since. Honestly, in moderation I see no problem with it, and if it was legal I would probably partake occasionally. I don’t feel it is worth the cost of the legal hassle involved currently though. I would imagine within the next five years it will be legal everywhere, but being in Georgia imagine this will be the last state to get their head out of their asses. Either way, I like the idea of brownies or gummies much more than smoking. Being a reformed cigarette smoker, (35yrs ago), I’m not sure I ever want to intentionally inhale smoke again. As long as alcohol is legal I have my way to relax at night and go to sleep with my one glass of wine. Another option would not be a bad thing though.

I have no problem once they find a way to determine when somebody is legally (limit amount like booze) under the influence. As far as I know, there is no recognized amount of consumption that would qualify somebody to be DUI. Next I would want the same restriction on pot as on alcohol and combined with the smoking regulations.

I don't neccesarily agree with you, but I see your position and your point is reasonable.

I used to smoke enough ganga to keep the Chinese land army stoned for a year....and the only reason why I never touch it now is because of my CCW.

Still, as much as I support legalization, I never see what I consider to be the biggest danger of reefer, which I discovered while working as a paramedic.

We all know that pot keeps people from vomiting, which is a very good thing in you're on chemotherapy for cancer.

This anti-emetic effect is a very bad thing for college kids who are binge drinking after getting egged on by their peers in tbe frat house.

I believe (note that I said "believe", not "know") that there are lots of kids who died from alcohol poisoning because they were smoking weed at the same time.

The weed kept them from vomiting, and because they didn't vomit.....they died from alcohol poisoning.

I considered this especially tragic, as it tends to happen to kids who are just starting out in life, and have their whole lives ahead of them.

And this doesn't mean that I have a problem with someone who has 1 glass of wine while smoking a doobie in the bathtub.

Even if you guys may disagree with me, can you at least see my point?

And as far as edible weeds go, south Florida is a special case.

We had so many introduced tropical plants down here, that you need to know edible weeds from places like Africa, Australia, and South America.

One of my favorites down here is Taro.

Taro grows all over the place down here. You can't throw a rock up in the air and
not have it come down on a taro plant.

The Hawaiians use it to make poi. The root is thick, starchy, and high in calories....rather like a potato.

It only needs to be cooked and prepared in a certian way because the raw plant has lots of oxalic acid crystals.....which are destroyed by cooking.

Everyone thinks that cactus is a western thing, but we have prickly pear all over the place. The delicious fruits taste like a cross between a strawberry and a watermelon. The pads can be peeled, cut into strips, and steamed like green beans.

We have yucca down here, we have bamboo (the shoots are delicious), saw palmetto, cocoanut, wild aloe (more medicinal rather than edible, but there is some overlap), and lots of cattail.

I could probably become a strict vegetarian post SHTF (I have been a vegetarian before for long periods of time), and I would still never go hungry.

I agree as far as driving goes, not being able to tell how much is in their system is tough. I kind of think a zero tolerance for any drug while driving makes sense though. As far as smoking tobacco, drinking or smoking pot, I think pot is the least disabling or dangerous of the three.

The pot smoker are easier to spot. They are the one's driving down the freeway at 40 MPH.
