most of this is caused by bad hygiene protocols. there are some good videos on youtube about these very subjects. thepatriotnurse is my favourite.

Hygiene or sanitation? Hygiene you stink bad, get infections and then die. Sanitation is when you urinate or take a crap by a water source or don't wash your hands after taking a crap like the morons you see leaving a Walmart bathroom. Then you eat or drink with contaminated hands or water sources.

I was using hygiene protocols as in a general term. usually these things are caused by not washing ones hands when handling food, not cooking food enough, drinking bad water or not washing regularly. in a shtf context it will be when someone fouls the camp you are in or dumps upstream from where you take your drinking water.
I carry a bottle of hand sanitizer gel when out in public.

Got ya, thought you were meaning it a little different.

A good manual as what you posted is FM 4-25.12 (FM 21-10-1) Unit Field Sanitation manual is one of the books I strongly recommended on my preps library posting here, it's a good book that covers sanitation protocols and setting up sanitation stations. All my books are hard copies, never really cared for digital stuff :( but one cant argue with 'free'

I have Doc Bones medical books and strongly recommend.

After I became a supply sergeant I had to take the field sanitations class. I learned a lot from it. Most everything that was taught came from the FM.

I have a lot of hard copies also and I prefer hard copies for reading purposes but I like the electronic books because if I were to have to bug out I cant take all of the books just the essential ones. That is where the electronic library comes in. It is light weight (depending what it is uploaded on). Tablets have a long life before the batteries need to be recharged. I have it uploaded to a couple of our tablets. I have two Goal Zero solar panels that can keep the tablets charged while in camp. If we are traveling in a my truck they can charge by the USB port on my dash or if I have to I have an 800 watt invertor that I plug into the truck cigarette outlet.

You are correct you cannot argue free. But how much do you value for your time?

Dysentery has plagued folks for centuries and even to this day even in this country it continues though certainly not at the level of the turn of the 20th century but it wouldn't take much to return to the levels of the early 1900s, all it would take is a prolonged grid down. Cities and anyone one down stream from large groups of People it won't take much time at all!

Even though it may not be easy, during shift of any emergency or disaster, good hygiene becomes that much more important. If you get a bad case of diarrhea now, you take over the counter stuff of go to a clinic. If you get it during a major disaster you likely die. I've stocked up on chlorine tablets and bars of soap, just hope I never have to rely on them solely.

Water is pretty important to me. I have 135 gallons of water in storage and growing plus I have two Katadyn Hiker Pro's + a Pur water purifier (same as the Hiker) and 3 Life Straw water bottles. I also have this ceramic water filter from my youth that I never used. I have been collecting pool shock so that I can make bleach from it because standard bleach only has less than a years life to it. I will attach a PDF's. The how to use pool shock is really good.
