Many of many home owners have criminally charged and prosecuted with a felony for shooting down or shooting at drones hovering over there property, almost all charges are similar "felony wanton endangerment and criminal mischief" how the Government views this "every inch above the tip of your grass blades is the government’s jurisdiction" the air space above your own grass is controlled by the FAA. Aerial boundary for landowners have never been settled by the Supreme Court.

If one must take action, The way I see it, Don't be seen, Don't get caught ;)

This guy nailed it. Most people do not realize they do not own the air or air space over their property. With the FAA playing ball with drone operators, the FAA takes people shooting at them very seriously. Another thing that people need to remember is that Drones are being used to gather images for mapping and land surveying. You don't want to end up shooting one of those down. Would not be fun having to replace a 40 thousand dollar drone.

Just to give you an example. I had a guy threaten to shoot down my Inspire 1 drone with the Flir 640 XT gimbal attached while I was working. I got the police involved right away and had them explain the law to him and why it would not be wise to shoot down a 20 thousand dollar drone.

If drones over your property become an issue then put in a request with the FAA to put up a TFR over your land.
