Does anyone use dogs for home protection?

I have two German Shepherds that I have trained using many techniques used by law enforcement for canine units. They have never had to respond to a home invasion, but I am confident they would be effective. Does anyone else have any experience with this?

we have always used dogs as an early warning system, they let us know when people are about long before human ears can hear them.

Me too, and with my hearing, or lack there of, I really like having the alarm system. I have two large outside dogs, a fenced property and no trespassing signs. I figure if anyone is in the yard, when they shouldn't be, they will be greeted with the appropriate amount of suspicion.

thats why i love having the 2 house dogs i have.they'll hear another dog or a person simply walking across the yard.

We have a small female schnauzer. She couldn't attack anything but she has incredible hearing. That's all I need to grab my semi auto 12 gauge.
