you know there was a time I carried 3 knifes at all times, one day I realized it was foolish,I put up the sheath knife and got rid of the cold steel neck knife now if I have one at all it is either a small buck folder or a utility knife,,,,,,\

I watch where I go and will not put myself in a spot that is dangerous to my well being, and yes I have a gun in the truck most of the time,do I carry it around all the time,,,,,,,, no,,,it stays in the truck

if you don't go looking for trouble it will rarely find you,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

I have always carried a knife ever since I was a young boy. Since the late '90's I started carrying a Benchmade automatic anytime I traveled anywhere. Also have a Letherman on my belt most of the time. When hunting or trapping I carry a fixed blade, usually my favorite, a custom made Bowie style knife. It's great for chopping frozen bait, cutting saplings for stakes or making kindling. Its ok for gutting a deer or elk, but no good for skinning a fur bearer.

yup, they might turn into knife wielding maniacs...common sense came and went out the window.

When I was a cub Scout in the 60s and a boy soldier in the 70s you got into VERY serious trouble if you did NOT have your pocket knife on you. In cub Scouts you would be banned from summer camp if you were caught twice WITHOUT your knife, in the boys army you could lose a weeks pay. NOW you can get FIVE years in prison for simply being in possession of a blade without good reason. Stalin and Orwell would be so proud of Britain today.

I collect knives, and probably have more than I need. I justify a new addition to my collection with the comforting excuse that I can use them for trade after SHTF.

I have a CCW, and I carry blades as well as a gun, and I've found a knife to be invaluable during my work as a paramedic. I preferred (in those days) a leatherman-style multitool.

This let me turn on an oxygen tank without the special wrench (which was--more often than not--missing), I could cut seatbelts, I could pick up dirty needles without touching them, and the bottle opener was great for removing leeches...since I spent time in dirty canal water extricating drunks from car wrecks. The phillips screwdriver worked very well as a car window smasher.

When I SCUBA dive or snorkle, I carry a dive knife that's like a smaller version of a ka-bar, which I use to cut litter, fishing line, and netting off coral reefs. I've used my dive knife to cut plastic garbage off trapped pelicans.

When I'm in the boonies, I prefer a ka-bar for almost everything.

For EDC carry, I keep my Victorinox swiss army knife (with all the doodads) and a cheap, assisted-opening tactical knife (with seatbelt cutter and safety glass window smasher) handy.

My Victorinox was very handy when I worked a retail job, as I used it to assemble displays, open boxes, and cut packing tape.

On a beach in Northumberland 3 years ago I watched some Scuba divers get ready to go diving off a wreck. One of the dude was dressing his blunt tipped stainless diving knife on a wetstone whilst he waited for his chum. Along comes the police and try to seize his illegal knife !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Common sense is dead in some societys.

I agree with you. A knife is a vital piece of equipment when SCUBA diving or snorkling. It's almost impossible to see monofiliment fishing line in the water, and it's quite possible to get trapped under until you drown.

I've had to use my dive knife to scrape off jellyfish tentacles (a very painful sting, I assure you), and to untangle my newbie buddy who got tangled in fishing net.

My dive knife has a six inch blade, which I've found to be more than adequate.

The newer the diver, the bigger the knife

And no, I've never had to use a dive knife to kill a shark or a barracuda. Such things are best left for the movies.

Also, this is completely off the subject, but I'm having trouble understanding how to take photos with my camera and post them. I've done it before in another thread, and I can't seem to do it now.

I wanted to post a photo of my blade collection.

Any ideas? I have a Samsung J7.

Click on the little picture icon when you post reply. You can attach your photo.

I tried it, and it says embed media/you haven't chosen media yet!.

I tried the camera icon, it says choose file, I choose file and nothing happens.

I'm too dumb to use a smart phone.

I do that, and it says choose file. I choose the picture I took, I get numbers followed by jpeg, there's a pause, and it just times out and disappears.
