Just wondering if anyone has ever handle anything from this outfit they are out of pakestand and nomally I would not have anything from there but they are supposed to do good work in high carbon steel

Yep almost always I would agree with you but these are supposed to be high carbon steel and around pretty good from what little bit I can find

Something about a $39.95 Damascus blade doesn't smell right. Not saying they are fake, but you know the saying "If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is."

I haven't found any good reviews of the Devil's Edge Damascus blades. I will keep an eye on these knives, however, and at that price, just might get one to test.

It's med priced junk. First of all no one makes real Damascus steel it hasn't existed in a long time http://www.thetruthaboutknives.com/2013/04/ask-a-knifemaker-the-truth-about-damascus/ Second the "Damascus" they use is a stainless 440 mix of junk. Third no matter what anyone says never by any steel from Pakistan the whole country can't afford to ship in good steel. Most of the steel there is recycled with no real quality control. Hell China has stricture guild lines and that should scare you...

Look at the patterns in the following two images. The first is a Devil's Edge and the second is a genuine "Damascus" (Pattern Welded) blade. In the Devil's Edge knife there is no transition in the pattern where the angle of the blade changes. I'd have to say that it is laser etched, not a genuine "Damascus" (Pattern Welded) pattern.

I've seen oil used in the process making the metal that also gave the appearance of damascus and hot oil bluing can give similar appearances to the devil's edge damascus ... maybe taking wet/dry sandpaper to these blades?
