Fortunately I live in a state where a silly government permission slip isn't "required" to carry open or concealed. I personally would never ask permission from the government to carry the basic tools for self protection anyway.

I don't like being on anyone's list, but figured it was cheaper in the long run than hiring a lawyer and trying to get my gun back.....

I'm sure we're all on some government list somewhere but I'll be damed if I'll volunteer for it. Unless you use the gun, how would the cops even know you have one?

Congrats on getting your license. Now the real training needs to begin.
Become proeffecient with your gun, train under stress, take self defense classes, firearm retention classes etc.

Congrats to you & your flamily members on your conceal carry permit - we now have LTC (License to Carry) or just open carry in the state of Texas - anyway I concel carry myself.
