Yesterday I got my conceal/carry permit in the mail. My daughter and her fiancé got theirs too. Makes me feel good because they left on a trip today.

Personally I think the 2nd allready gives us this rite, but I too paid for it again. One note to be aware of when traveling though, not all states will recognize your carry permit. Do a little research on line before carrying to make sure you don't get any unwanted suprises where you travel.
Thanks. The instructor gave us the info on traveling through states that do not recognize the permits. 24 hour limits and so forth.

Since you're next door to me, what states should I be concerned about?
Oh course, Illinois. You can only stay 24 hours and the weapon and ammo have to be in two separate parts of the car.
I believe he said something about Florida too.
There are 17(?) reciprocating states that automatically recognize you home state laws.
I was basically interested in TN/KY because that's about the only places I drive. They recognize each other.

Here's a link for Georgia anyways. I'm good with all the neighboring states at least.
It's still amazing to me that states that have agreed to be part of this Union can ignore not only the law of the constitution, but one that's been determined to be a God given right and not just a privilege.

That's hogwash, never had that problem in Tennessee and it's not the law. Some munipalities may do that if there not afraid of a civil lawsuit.

I don't see how that can happen. When you purchase a firearm you don't get any type of paperwork showing ownership. You get receipt at the store, but that's it. A license is not required so where is the proof?

I bought my 45 at a gun show private sale,,,,,anywhere else and the cop would have run the serial # and as long as it was not stolen I would have got it back,,,maybe without the ammo but I would still have my 45

No there isn't much, except for, (42 U.S.C. § 14141) I would use it and have threatened to a few times and it works. If your know your rights and make it known to the abusing officer in a respectful way, you should never have a problem.
