And Maria is supposed to hit the Antilles as a Cat 2 by Tuesday. And after that she might head towards the East Coast.

It has been a rough season start so far. I didn't imagine a 4 day power loss here in N Ga from a storm, but sure am smart enough to realize how greatful I am compared to the people in the keys and Caribbean.

New York been hit several times in the past (8)

Not counting the rest of of the eastern states or the gulf

3 or more hurricanes in the same year regarding Texas and Florida, lot of two's (global warming? I think not)

3 in Florida 1871 / 8-16 / 8-25 / 9-6

3 in 1886 / 6-21 / 6-30 7-18

3 in 1906 / 6-16 / 9-27 / 10-18

4 in Texas 1886 / 6-14 / 8-20 / 9-23 / 10-12

3 in 1909 / 6-29 / 7-21 / 8-27

Without the warm Caribbean waters to feed it, and with a strong wind shear holding it down, Jose is a ghost of its former self now. Compared to Irma, Jose is a midget with hardly any reach even though it's still a Cat 1. OH wait, we aren't supposed to use that word anymore. Jose is size challenged?

My daughter lives in Arlington, in the D.C. area (she's inside the Beltway). Jose is passing just off the coast from her tomorrow, and the forecast is for 20% chance of rain and 13 MPH winds... :lame:

All the models show Maria turning north well before it reaches Florida, and the major models have it then following the same path as Jose.
