Too much to be lost in a Globalised world today. Everybody has too much money invested in too many other companies in too many other lands. This mixed up world is the reason why you are having such rough birthpains there with the Brexit. Nobody knows the real outcome of a No-deal. If they did, they would show the world and get famous. Since they don't, we will just have to wait for the S to H the F and get ready to wash our hands in the aftermath. GP

I agree about the globilisation, never liked it myself, bringing stuff in from the other side of the world.
when I was younger we ate what was in season and if it wasn't in season we didn't have it to eat.
other stuff was repaired, shoes were resoled and cobblers were everywhere, now everything is thrown away and buy new, I think we have lost something along the way.
when TSHTF we will have to be localised again.
I do a "big shop"(big for us that is) every 3 weeks. most people go to the supermarket every 3 days or so.

I read something a long time ago and it really is true, it goes like this:
"we are so interconnected now that the whole (western) world would be affected if our civilisation collapsed, we have built a monumental house of cards that is held together by worldwide connections that are very fragile to disruption."

We might go shopping 2-3 times a month. I still put about €50 in the pantry and cellar each month. I don't have the space for what I would like to have, but I have an estimated 6-7 months of food here. A chemical toilett, stored water, fishing stuff, archery, pellet guns and pistols, trapping would get me maybe a year to survive till most have died off or we have been saved from starving, the biggest part is the first 2-3 months. Extra clothing and jackets for deep winter.
Plundering and ravaging will be over by then. Bug out? too much stuff. Bug in? Barricades and flame-thrower. Exploding arrows and such. Stuff the stairway with furniture and metal to keep anyone from getting to the 3rd floor. Good ventilation against smoking us out. Concrete walls to stop from burning us up. With the right decoy black paint on the outer walls anyway to make us look burned out and black cardboards on the windows to help the picture. Bet against the worst, hope for the best...GP

space is the problem for us too, most modern UK houses don't have a lot of storage so you have to be a bit creative.
wife reckons we have about 6 months of food minimum, bit more with a bit of creative cooking, foraging and snaring + home growing would put it up around the 9 months mark, maybe more, most non preppers would be long gone within that time frame.
we are so far out that I don't really expect any visitors from the big cities, a doctor once told my wife that we are living "in the middle of nowhere"-his exact words, and we are hundreds of miles from any big city, so the main problem I think would be boredom, not that we would have time to get bored.

Still on for the end of this month, same-o fear mongering from the EU and leftest, funny thing is, is that the EU are comparing the Brexit to Nazi Germany, I think the EU drank too much salt water to make that comparison, personally think the Brexit will prevent a Fourth Reich!

Its September 1939 in the EU / UK at the momement, Peace in our time, Phoney war etc but the EUSSR is still strongly trying to undermine whats left of democracy in the UK with the help of the Quisling remainers. Remember what happened to the Confederate States when they voted democratically to leave the Union, I suspect something similar could happen here. ( its also why the EUSSR is suddenly very keen on US forces leaving Europe whilst the Europeans keep attacking NATO on every political opportunity). Germany and France grovelling to Russia whilst eying up the Ukrainian steppes and trying to get the US out of the way, using the UK as the scapegoat etc Yup its 1939 again. Currently I'm prepping as hard now as I did at the height of the Cold War I suggest you folks at least move your preps up a notch becaiuse I will remind you thjat in 2020 both German and Russian bombers can reach the US mainland this time. The EU sees the US becoming weak in the face of Russian and Chinese expensionism and they see an opportunity.

Don't forget the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact, or as it was officially know, the Treaty of Non-Aggression between Germany and the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics...also in 1939.

the Brexit withdrawal bill has now passed through Parliament, it has been given Royal ascent which means it is now enshrined in law, I did read somewhere that the EU has now signed it off meaning there is now nothing to stop us leaving on the 31st of this month, just one week to go until we officially become an EX member of the EU.

Yes all passed through. I think the EU still has to do 1 more final vote but as only 3 countries voted against it will pass through. I could't find any info on who the 3 who voted no were. My guess would be Ireland, Poland and Hungary but that is only a guess.
