Pretty much most animal traps can be adapted to some kind of intruder trap. At least the trigger mechanism.

take a look at your position and decide how you would attack it. Look for good ambush points, ditches to advance through and safe cover to hide behind,( if none are there build one) like concrete walls to the side of the gate, a large downed log. Leave several happys behind the cover positions to welcome them. Point is , to provide them a false sense of safety to sucker them into a tight confined space. LIGHT EM UP.

Using old off set #16 bear traps, its far easier to leave a dead body behind then a wounded person in other words, the more that's hurt the more able body individuals that's needed to cart off the injured, kill traps should only be used as the last resort. Has anyone ever tried to pry the jaws of an #16 ;)

Hmm, whats an offset you might ask #16? ;)

offset I think has to do with th teeth being offset on the bottom of the jaws. Still, it would probably be cheaper to buy claymores. We got rid of a bunch of those years ago. They are worth a mint. But I think ours were bigger than that. I don't know but seems like ours weighed about 100 # each. Anyways , they were illegal here since about 1920. Probably the work of Greenpeace.

offset means no gaps with the jaws closed ;) I have #15 and #16 most states make it illegal to use if the traps have teeth unless approved for damage control but still legal to buy and own, the biggest trap I dealt with was the #21 hutzel trap and ya they are heavy though anything that size would be human kill traps and yes one can still buy the #21 and #22, the #16 run about $250 for new ones without the spring compression tool.

have a print out of that vc-manual,interesting reading.

Fake cover: If you have some open area between your perimeter and your home, this is a great idea. Basically, make something look like good cover, but really, it is made from easily pierced material (like shellacked paper mache). They think they are taking cover behind a small wooden wall, not really bothering to consider why it's there. Yet even small calibers go right through it. (for added fun, make a small footfall trap behind it (small, shallow dug out area, lined with metal caltrops, for example). So, not only is their "cover" false, but now they are howling in pain. (any of his comrades are going to think twice, hehe)

here's another idea to that..add some real or fake shrubs, out and away from the home.for a person to hide behind.in which they either have to stand up.or move to one side or the other to fire at your home.in which you can always fire through the shrub..even 3 or 4 ,22 rounds can it's point across..even a arrow or 2 (might) do wonders..
