I would like to offer a different perspective: HIIT - High Intensity Interval Training

My workouts are about 15 min long, 3-4 times a week. Noticeable gain in strength, endurance, and weightloss (a have a belly)

Though, in Florida, there are no hills so it make my hiking tests with pack easy ;).

In any event, the training itself helps with endurance so much so, that I cut out cardio (pretty much) completely. Maybe do a nice run once a week because I'm bored. It turn from me barely being able to complete 1 mile (without slowing down) to 3-5 miles in full stride.

So I stick with HIIT, it has improved every aspect with very short exercises

I found a site called Darebee, which is a bunch of programs for HIIT. I picked a program, the site is a little weird, and hard to navigate, but I think I figured it out. It's a lot like crossfit, only some of the programs tell a story about why you are working out.

It gives you something to read between workout sets, anyway.

I chose a HIIT program, which is a general fitness program rather than a cardio or strength program.

I will start today, after work.

There is an app you can download called Home Workout

For the most part, it'll do the job. It has nice countdown times, tracking, and really all the basics. It isn't the best program, but it is a great starting place.

That's where I started at least. I'd reccomend the app to anyone for a quick exercise routine that is good for beginners to intermediate training.

I don't have a smart phone. I have to print out the exercises, and set a kitchen timer. But I'm fine with it. I don't really put apps on the laptop. Unfortunately, convenient apps will probably be beyond my reach for a while.

I have been doing a pretty low intensity (I know, its high intensity, but I am easing into it) HIIT workout. Mostly jumping, burpee's, push ups, lunges, basic body weight workouts. I notice no difference in weight or strength or endurance yet, obviously.

Ran intervals for 4 miles yesterday, and went for a nice hike this morning, then me and Stink went for a swim in the lake about 9 o'clock. Still cold, but not as bad as I thought. Maybe swimming in the river every once in a while over the winter is getting me used to it? I don't know, but it was actually just refreshing, not heart stopping cold. Bonus, no weeds in the lake this early, nice and clear.

Started my dry fire training over, from the beginning. I changed up my IWB rig, and modified my Minotaur holster for a flatter, more horizontal lay. Starting over right at the beginning, just a draw from under the shirt, safety off, touch the trigger but no pull, and safety on and reholster. I will be doing this daily for a half hour or so for this month, then hopefully adding a pro timer next month.

I cut down on my cigarettes last for the last two months. TODAY IS THE DAY!!

If you read about me in the news, it's because of the withdrawals.

Peace.
