You make some valid & intelligent points however this debate sparked from the statement made by artic that MOST CITIES ARE LIVING IN THIRD WORLD CONDITIONS.

This statement contradicts all logic. I have spent more than a month (on more than one occasion) living in Tokyo, Paris, New York as well as a handful of small towns in rural USA. I've grown up in an upper class suburb of Chicago. I have NEVER felt any more safe than I have in major cities.

With that being said that doesn't mean that there aren't beautiful communities in the country that are also safe to live. That also doesn't mean that there arent isolated slums in major cities. That is irrelevant. This is about a statement that was made and the over all negative propaganda being spewed from a few members of this forum.

Most of which don't seem to read prior to chiming in with there opinion.
If you're going to quote me at least get it right. I said; "Many parts of the big cities are already third world". That's just stating a fact, not an opinion. Get a life.

Look at the bright side. In Chicago communities like West Englewood, home ownership is almost within anyone's reach! Looks like you could make a killing flipping home in West Englewood. Take this lovely 5 bedroom multi-family home which is for sale for only $24,000. The property value is estimated at $122,856!

I dunno, maybe because West Englewood (population 35,000, area 3.15 square miles) had 70 violent crimes (including 4 homicides) reported in the 30 day period March 8th through April 7th, plus 92 property crimes and 113 "quality of life crimes" (narcotics, prostitution, etc.)

That's what? 1.27 homicides per square mile in one month? 22.6 violent crimes and 29.2 property crimes per square mile.

What a lovely neighborhood!

Yea so you're actually going to debate real estate costs. This should be fun.

I love how you've managed to look up real estate in the shittiest neighborhood in the entire city of Chicago.

Most residents of Chicago never set foot anywhere near Englewood and have no reason to.

Now my turn...

I encourage you all to share the names of the towns which you live. I have no problem comparing.

Where do you live Artic? Since your quick to voice your opinion on what is regarded as one of the greatest cities around the world....I'd love to hear about what crap hole you reside. Let's compare apples shall we.

You don't even have the balls to do that.

What a lovely neighborhood!

Try these communities on for size...

https://www.zillow.com/homedetails/6776-N-Laporte-Ave-Lincolnwood-IL-60712/3556016_zpid/

Or...

https://www.zillow.com/homedetails/2355-Linden-Ave-Highland-Park-IL-60035/4905165_zpid/

Or...

https://www.zillow.com/homedetails/900-Edgemere-Ct-Evanston-IL-60202/3566120_zpid/

Or...

https://www.zillow.com/homedetails/925-Morrison-Ln-Northbrook-IL-60062/3329233_zpid/

Or...

https://www.zillow.com/homedetails/411-Lakeside-Ter-Glencoe-IL-60022/3358646_zpid/

And on and on and on...

In some of these communities are homes that cost over 10 million dollars. These are all suburbs to which are around which I grew up. Most residents of Chicago don't even know where Englewood is.

Funny for the price of a below average condo in Chicago I can purchase a very large & luxurious 50 acre farm house in most towns of rural America. Yet some of you feel the need to attack the place where other people live without having the decency of listing the general location of which you reside.

Funny in Columbus,Georgia I found houses for $5,000. This would be bad enough if this were the worst or uncommon but more than half of the 20 pages of listenings for properties in Columbus Georgia don't even have a price because they're being FORECLOSED UPON.

https://www.zillow.com/homedetails/1622-14th-Ave-Columbus-GA-31901/76544208_zpid/

Yea and you're going to call Chicago a sh#thole...

https://www.zillow.com/homes/Columbus-GA_rb/?fromHomePage=true

I guess not too many people want to live in Columbus, GA.

you obviously have no concept of OPSEC. nobody is going to tell you where they live.

If you're not going to list the town/city to which u reside then don't make ridiculous baseless statements about where others do.

If you choose to debate and insult then let's compare communities. Other wise you can stick ur opinions were the sun don't shine. I already got Columbus,GA out the way.

i'm not making baseless statements, no prepper worth his salt is going to tell you where they live, they don't want people turning up on their doorstep when the world goes to hell in a handcart, I wouldn't want you turning up on my doorstep, no chance of that i'm not even in the same country.

That's pretty much what I figured. "Out of sight out of mind" If you don't look at it, you can pretend it doesn't exist.

BTW, the city I live in had 2 homicides in the same period. The whole city.

Toexist, what brought this up was that arcticdude said:

Which you distorted into:

this debate sparked from the statement made by artic that MOST CITIES ARE LIVING IN THIRD WORLD CONDITIONS.

Now you can argue what constitutes "many" but you can't argue the fact that there are some bad places in big cities. West Englewood being one of the worst of them.

I have never disputed that there arent bad areas in major cities, particularly near were I live. These are isolated pockets however that don't represent the majority of the city.

Most people I grew up with couldn't even point out Englewood on the map. Isolated pockets of the city like Englewood consist of the poorest of the poor. Chicago is a community of neighborhoods. You can live your entire life in Chicago and or Chicagoland suburb and never once even meet a person from Englewood.

Unfortunately if someone from Englewood were to drive anywhere near one of the suburbs I've listed earlier...they would be pulled over and questioned by local LEO immediately.

As it relates to third world cities...I don't know of any such places in the United States of America. Some people here seem to have NEVER left the town they live in let alone the country.

Have any of you ever visited a third world country? I have and if u think some impoverished isolated pocket in an American city is the least bit similar...you don't know what the frick ur talking about.
