Great info! I have been debating on whether I would like to join our local ARES or CERT.

I use to be a CERT member in my community, it became a bit political and I was only looking to serve my community as a member. I don't do drama and that was what it appeared to me, the County EM and his group are a little clique. ARES, they are not a bad bunch of guys, but its pretty much a who you know group. They run their operation quite conveniently in the local Red Cross Chapter and divide their group in that building and with the county EM office.
My wife's cousin, however is very active in ARES in Minnesota, some of these PDF's, I got from him and others I found online. He's an active ARES and weather spotter. Prior to him moving outside the Twin City, Maple Grove (he had the highest pole that I ever did see, for one who was not Emergency Management). Last time we were up in Minnesota, he has another one that sits in an open area on his four acre plot. Well glad they are some help to you.
