well prepping is not a popular practice ,so I tend to walk a narrow path and stay to myself when it comes to prepping,,,besides if the SHTF I am to far from anyone I know to try and plan for a joint venture,,a good number of us are alone because of this fact

i am very much like you Grayghost, although I live on the edge of a town its a small rural one, if and when the power grid goes down I don't expect many people to remain here, 21st century people don't have the knowledge or skills to live without power especially once the stores and filling stations are empty.

I don't talk to anyone about prepping either, except for some family. My son and daughter and grandkids all live about 9 hours north of here. My son lives off grid in a house he built in the mountains and my daughter lives about 20 miles from him. I think they'll be fine if or when the SHTF.

it is pretty much the same here,50 to 75% of these people will use what gas they have to relocate me I stay put,,,,,,,,,,,,I know the area and will have very little trouble living a 1850s life style

yes I know the area here like the back of my hand, up to a 25 mile radius. most houses here are modern- last 25 years-and are all electric, so once the power goes off unlike us most peoplewill relocate.

you start talking about the SHTF and most people look at you like you are a nut and many will either become cold towards you or condescending ,,,,,I don't see any reason to open myself up for that sort of treatment so I don't talk about it

yes same here, my only DUTY is to make sure my wife and I survive, not to people who cant be bothered .

my niece and her husband know what I am doing and they are about the only ones who do but they are 850 miles away in Florida, they start dropping nukes I doubt they can get here but they know they are welcome to come when the world goes to shit

here is a story I think will show how people will react in the UK following a power grid collapse, its only on a small scale and was nearly 27 years ago but I think it still shows the attitude of most of the population.
I was renting a room in a shared house along with 6 other people, the electric was cut off for non payment-we had paid the landlord but he hadn't paid the electricity company, straight away 4 people left and moved in with relatives, which just left me and the couple who rented the front room downstairs, we managed to survive with paraffin/kerosene stoves and storm lanterns, the power was off for several weeks before a prepayment meter was installed.

I understand the combined need for security as well as avoiding the social stigma. What I'm building with the ShieldWall Network is a coalition, a web, of relatively local folks who get to know one another now and work together to learn who runs things in their communities, where all of the available resources are, how they are accessed, and how to become a person of influence in their communities before SHTF, if they want: or to have a network of personally known and trusted like-minded folks within half a gas tank's drive or less who have a variety of skills, training, assets, and resources on hand for mutual support and assistance, now, and for when it's really needed some day.

this is a good concept but once gas has become scarce and trust me it will not take long, at least for me 40 miles one way will be as far as I will be willing to drive,,,there will be hazards on the road and even a short trip of 40 miles can be a life threatening event

I agree. That's why I want to start on a statewide level, and then through building networks decentralize it to a County level.

how to become a person of influence in their communities before SHTF,

I have no desire to be a person of influence outside my property, once outside people find out how resourceful you are than you become a target. An o'l saying 'loose lips sink ships'

You just lost your Op-Sec

This is what I read Billy, The Shieldwall Network "Think racially, take a stand locally." And my take The Shieldwall Network is building a coalition of white supremacy not prepping in the since of what this forum is about!

But further reading I come across this from your web page and this pretty much excludes my wife and me for that matter, this is all white supremacist talk billy,

Jews, Homos and Indians..Oh, My!!
"I’m perplexed as to how our people can proclaim that they are white nationalists, fighting for the 14 words, shouting “White Pride” and “Proud to be racist!”, while supporting and cheering on men who are proud to have 10% Jewish ancestry, or men who are homosexuals, or men who are married to half-breeds. In my very uncool beliefs, one being that our people should not have relationships and breed with other races, second, that homosexuality is an abomination that contributes to the decline of our race, and third, that only people of pure white ancestry should be on our side of the battlefield… I’m not sure I’ll ever understand how these Jews, homos and race mixers ever got lifted up in so-called white racial movements." http://divine-truth.org/2017/02/21/jews-homos-and-indians-oh-my/

Yes, my wife wrote that, I reblogged it, and I support it. As you said, it's not for everybody. I support the views of America's Founding Fathers who wrote the Naturalization Act of 1790.

In some areas, it may be back to horse and buggy days, or just horses, or on foot. Other areas may have limited fuel supplies, near production and refining facilities. We've all seen the Mad Max movies, lol. But there's also biodiesel, wood gasification, and steam engines. Still, I do think our worlds are going to become a lot smaller, which is why I say that a half dozen guys you know within five miles of you are going to be worth the five hundred you used to know when there was an internet. Building a network locally is worth the time and risk to opsec, in my opinion.
