OK I have a question for y'all. What type of ammo is best to stock up on for a handgun fmj or hollow points? I know that hollow points are better due to expansion but when I go buy ammo I hate to pass up the fmj because I can buy 50 for the same price as 20 hollow points.

There is a thread here that kicks this back and forth . Standard hollow points cost the same as standard fmj's in Remington or Winchester . Some simi auto's do not work well with hollow points .

I'd personally just get FMJ... I am by no means an expert, but I figure FMJ vs hollow point will make little difference when in a shtf situation.

I'm only going to make one post here because I've already said all this and more in the thread I started about this a month ago in the correct board.

Anatomy does not change if society ends. Bullet physics do not change if the power grid goes down. Hollow points make bigger holes. Bigger holes kill better. It's really that simple, and no world-ending scenario is going to change that. Now you guys argue amongst yourselves, I'g going to go put those Golden Saber BHPs in my new magazine.

I agree with TheShadowKnows. If you're concerned with penetration, plan on carrying a rifle. For your sidearm, stock up on whichever defense round you would want for EDC now.

My primary use for FMJ handgun ammo is practice at the range, and I try to get these rounds in the same weight as my carry ammo.
