Should I be buying water?

There isn't much trust from anything Mercola, he's to controversial and by his own admission not an water filtration expert ;)

Much of these big box stores that sell water filters for either water faucet or pitcher style are designed for clean water only, the filter taps for the faucets are designed for pressurized lines to push the water through the filters, if power is lost for a good period of time the homes will lose tap water making the filter taps useless. Getting something like a Berkey or make your own Berkey can be used in the home or in the field, abit slower but more reliable and flexible and the filters last longer.

FYI, Mercola filters are made by Aquasana, just purchase Aquasana and one might save a ton of money if one wants to go that rout ;)

Many water filters on sale like the Brita range for example only improve the TASTE of pre treated and chlorinated water, they do not make tainted water safe.

Big Berkys and British Berkfields are the best by far especially those using silver enhanced ceramic filter candles
I don't know if mine are silver enhanced or not, but are the ceramic ones. I'm not impressed by their new plastic with charcoal ones, but guess they are better than nothing. The only good thing I can say about them is they are less fragile than the ceramic. One thing to improve the Berkey is still to use a sediment filter first just to make the filters last longer between cleanings.

Speaking of BPA, I came across this article this morning though the article isn't specifically about BPA or water it does touch on some other important information we should keep in the back of our minds.

Many researchers believe the biggest source of BPA contamination comes through food packaging. Sure, canned food is convenient, but almost all of those metal cans are coated with a BPA resin, which migrates into the food. Acidic canned products, such as tomato paste or sauces, are particularly saturated with BPA.

My guess is you probably don't want to know what crap is in the foods we eat. I'm sure we don't even know about half of the stuff yet. You have to wonder why so many have digestive disorders, cancers, and all assorted health issues. I used to think the government actually cared about people's health. When they made a deal with the tobacco companies and are now profiting from sales I pretty much gave up hope. The best advice I can give is eat as much fresh, un modified food as you can. I still really like cheese burgers even knowing they are made from pink slime. I just try not to eat them daily.

all canned food is processed to some extent or other and a diet full of processed food isn't good, I think this is probably why a lot of people have allergies and behavioural problems and other stuff all the way up to cancer. fresh food preferably home grown is best, at least if you grow your own food you know what goes into it.

Humans have developed a taste for chemicalized processed foods, store bought eggs stink to high heaven and don't even look right to me including the meat along with so-called bacon, how many people actually ate real bacon, it don't even taste like the store bought shxt, for Christ sake even water is processed today from tap water to bottled water. No Sir, I'll eat what I grow, forage, hunt and fish for, I do everything possible to stay out of the poison centers (grocery stores). I just don't like the thought of poison approved and processed for human consumption!

we grow some of our own food, not all of it but a large part, no meat animals yet, we buy all our meat fresh at our local weekly market half a mile away, we buy eggs half a mile away in the other direction from a guy who has a few chickens in his yard, I intend to do more foraging this year, hunting we have to have permission from the land owner or else its armed trespass.
