Speaking of my son. He was a smoker. He tried chantex and quit with no problem cravings at all. He did say it made him have really vivid dreams though. That and those few people he hacked up anyways,,,,, seriously, the possible side effects of these new drugs is scary, luckily, other than the dreams he said it was easy.
So I don't think that this is such a bad problem... I mean the vivid dreams are quite annoying but not that bad, plus I guess they are stopping soon later, isn't it?

I would like to get a vivid dream with Margot Robbie, definitely wouldn't need viagra then :D

I would imagine they will with time. Either way, smoking is so bad for your health, and wallet these days, it's worth any way you can get away from it. I can't preach here as I smoked as a teenager for ten years or so. I tried quitting multiple times before it finally worked. It's a really nasty (health wise) habit that's hard to break.

Good to hear your going to make it Brent. After I quit my high pressure VP job a year and a half ago I lost 35 lbs, my triglycerides dropped from 1600+ to 300, my eyesight improved and don't need to wear glasses now (doc can't figure out why) and I feel better than I have in years. I still eat everything that I always have, still enjoy a cigar and a shot now and then and avoid doctor's. Everything in moderation now.

I agree smoking is bad in any cases, no doubts!

Well it's been 8 days since I had a tube shoved up my arm and into my heart. The arm is still sore and weak. Guess I just don't recover as quick as when in my 20's. Anyways, I'm driving myself bats-it with lying around, so am going to go back and start light duty on the building today. Luckily I can mostly direct my son and his wife, but I will go insane if I have to watch tv any longer. I have 300+ channels and there's not crap worth of anything good. I guess I should be greatful that they didn't open my chest as that's a really tough recovery. Either way, back to the reason for this post, take care of yourselves. At least right now we have the luxury of time to heal if sick or injured. During an emergency you won't have that option. The most important tools a prepper can have are their mind and health. Everything else can be handeled with these.

I chewed but quit a few years ago never got into cigarettes though I never gave up my pipes nor the occasional cigar luckily none of our kids ever got into the habit.
I really miss a good flavored pipe. I used to smoke a cherry flavored blend of tobacco that smelled so good. After finally kicking cigarettes I figured it was best to just leave tobacco alone.

what did I get from walking? shin splint....do I leave my ### on the couch? hell no,just make those walks at a slower pace and increase the distance.
what I really don't understand is that the problems started after I used a pair of good training shoes,no problems with my combat boots.

I was thinking of that smoking, should I quit ?but the way old people are treated here in hospitals and home,I'd rather not spend any time there as a really old goat, it's appaling....

i smoked for 32 years, both rolling tobacco and packeted cigarettes during the day, and a pipe in the evening.
one morning I woke up and decided that was the day I was giving up, so I did, no help just pure will power, that was 20 years ago now.
I gave up drinking alcohol about 15 years ago.

Smoking is just really bad for you health, but drinking?, I draw line! Lol.

a drink now and then is okay, maybe even good for your health, but the trouble is people don't know when to stop and they drink to excess, we see it every Saturday night in our big cities, people falling over drunk.
for me, we stopped because it was a long walk to the pub.

A smoking paramedic !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! FFS My Missus a senior nursing practictioner says when we eventually meet she is going to make you eat a full packet of twenty. She terrorises her medical colleagues into stopping smoking , they all comply its easier that the non stop hassle, abuse and pain. :) Nothing wrong with a small drinky but not baccy it goes against every principle of prepping

then there is the addiction post SHTF, if someone is always looking for the next cigarette or the next drink they are an ADDICT as much as any drug addict. dump it now before TSHTF, you'll have enough to worry about post event without worrying where the next ciggy or drink comes from. well, that's my personal position anyway, anyone with an addiction is a liability not an asset.

I would not trust you on guard duty if you smoked or were in withdrawl to protect a group or family, and after TSHTF if you lit up outside after dark when on patrol I would shoot you. I smoked 40 a day for 30 years, then I had a family, cant safely have both. However my missus is willing to teach your missus how effective a pair of Mole grips can be on persuading people not to light up. AND 95% of the cost of your packet of fags is going in taxes straight to your immigrants and socialists, are you happy funding them?

At least you were smart enough to walk! The driving drunk is still a big problem here. I don't care if someone wants to risk them killing themselves, just not risk hurting others. I use a glass of wine each night to help fall asleep. I guess it's my sedative. But you are right with way too many people not being able to control themselves with it.
