Recently, a new member asked on the shoutbox about recommended books. Often, its been a hit or miss on some of the books I've owned and a few simply did not get on the list, either because "yeah I #@$% up some times, forgot to inventory them and are in one of my Bugout kits or in my storage sites (waiting for the new BOL) to be completed. So this list is not encompassing and I am sure their are many of you will add to the list.

If you have ones that are burning on your mind, that I didn't place on the DPF website forums, which I think they are all spread out. Chime in.

Good preps to you and hope for the newcomers, that the list helps you. Just know it took me over 10 years or so, to include my military time that I've built up it. Note, I didn't place many of my medical, public health or weapons books on here. For weapons enthusiast, I have a few shooter how to's, but their are so many out there, I quit buying them.

awesome thread, bookmarked! thank you everyone who contributed to it. This was a good find! Most recently I read Prisoner B-3087 not sure if it holds any relevance here, it was Holocaust related and is nonfiction. However I will say that he did some clever things to survive under the circumstances in the book.

Consider these practical books for everyday living.
Living More with Less
The Tightwad Gazette
The Foxfire series

These books will help enlighten and teach you how to live a more minimal existence, have a make-do attitude and avoid the traps of commercialism.

Finished Black Sun the fiction novel by Leininger, it was more on the basis of a romantic action novel( some heavy breathing and tingly stuff), don't know so much about a prepper novel. It was OK. Aftermath, 77 days and Alas Babylon were really good. I am starting Comet today. I thought Patriots would be great for someone with a lot of gun knowledge and military background, I need to read it again to take it all in, pretty heavy info. regarding tactics and weapons.

I really liked the Honor Harrington series, by David Weber. If was really different in the fact the solar system was at war with dozens of planetary worlds, run by dozens of different types of governments. Liberals, socialist, male dominated gov., female dominated gov., royal gov. religious of various types government. It gave a nice insight into how each of these worlds and governments operated. Lots of action to keep it moving along. Never a boring moment. The Heroine is a very strong character and conservative to her core, IMHO.

The way this nation is going we will be run by transgenders.

I recommend this handbook in spanish. It serves to learn Spanish while you learn preparation and to know words related to the prepper world. Maybe one day a prepper will have to seek refuge in Spanish-speaking countries or deal with people who speak Spanish.
