I bought two cheap machetes from harbor freight, for like ten bucks each. They look great, and have a decent quality metal blade. The handle though, broke the first time I wacked a vine with it. I drilled it and bolted it back on and now its a useable tool. Sometimes it's not worth buying cheap.

for another $12 bucks you could get the Ontario 18" U.S. machete similar to the Collins M1942 machete, one of the best for the price IMHO

tell ya what ! i bought one of the cold steel frontier hawks for around 30 bucks and thought it would be a peace of crap ! when i got it i removed the coating on the head took it to bare metal then stained the handle and made a leather sheath for it . me and a buddy made a stump target and through tomahawks good part of a day and i was surprised the balance is great it blade ended into the target 99% of the time and the handle held up really well only one ding from contact from another tomahawk! i like the fact that it comes with a longer handle than most and will be easy to replace in the woods if i must! held a sharp edge aswell i am pleased! ill post some picks soon kinda dark now vid quality would suck!

Some of our Viking and civil war re-enactors use steel arrow heads the bullet point or bodkin type in the heads of their war axes and infantry Hawks.

FYI some folks secure the hatchet or hawk to the shaft not with three wedges but one screw in type with a head usually through a metal washer.

Its an arrowhead. I don't use a secure side bolt. The head is meant to be friction set so I usually clean the inner part of the eye of the T-Hawk so that it sets smoothly when it finally wedges good on the shaft I wrap just underneath it so that it stays. Cold steel makes them with the side bolt but I usually take it flip it glue it in to place the grind it flat on the inner and outer sides of the wall this way you dont really notice the hole in the side of the T-Hawk.

We gone to another garage sale Sunday, I paid $5 for a box of odd and ends and at the bottom of the box found this knife, a Camillus pocket knife with Camillus New York stamped on the blade, a little surface rust but should clean up nicely, very tight nothing broken and no chips anywhere. The picture makes the rust appear worse than it is.

däng,I never find good stuff like that when going to garage sales or flee markets..

One of these days, will have to lay out all the knives and swords, machetes, etc. and take a big pic.
Only about half of it is actually combat useful though....the rest is more decorative.
