i went into harbor freight today.just to look around.ended up buying another magnesium striker.so i'll be shaveing the 1st one with a knife into thin strips.and/or fileing it down with the grinding wheel...and no,its not on the grinder..lol..this way,i'll have some fileings if their ever needed

buy a spool of jute rope, unravel it and make a bird nest, jute is an excellent fire starter

Whenever I am out, I grab a bunch of moss off the trees, dry it out and bag it, another excellent fire starter

when you cut up some jute..do you cut it up into certain lengths? or does it not matter? and how many pieces do you cut for each nest..?
