Hi folks. Here's a link to a video I did about a client of mine who experienced a fire and burn injuries. If you like videos please feel free to pop by :) Prepper Nurse

Great Video...maybe one day, you'll teach me how to do the music thing...also the intro and closing credits..

You were very spot on with your comments. From a former American Red Cross Disaster Director...yes, I did that for a short stint too after military retirement. I can tell you that if the SHTF, their will be zero services or at least none from my area...most of the folks I worked with are very preparedness focused, hence why they also volunteered. Even with their Christian sense of duty, I just don't see them working after the end of services. Further more, I saw the good and the bad, and the over exaggeration of Katrina. The good, I had a group of young people all over the nation come and volunteer for Katrina, none of them knew how Red Cross worked, but we did some great stuff right down in the heart of N.O. I'd have to write you more, if you wonder how.

The bad, we also had volunteers who were just there to make themselves feel good, but really had no business being there, they were lazy, didn't want to work and spent more time in the staff shelters rather than on the road or working.

The Exaggeration, well I know one personally, I had to send her home for psychiatric reasons...she just couldn't cope with the stress or some of the more challenging areas of N.O. which we operated at. However, once when she got home, she over exaggerated the extent of the disaster and the violence and even said so on local news...a big embarrassment, also she called my wife and made it sound like I was endangering my life...which then my wife was leaving all sorts of messages and texts telling me to be safe...needless to say, the woman cost my wife some great sleep time and undue stress. I was perfectly fine, had great support from the Guard and also the local law enforcement and no, we were never ever in jeopardy.

My point piggy backs your comment, social services and charities will not be operating. Mind you, I have made a deal with the local church near my BOL that if I have some food or game that I can donate, I will make sure they will get it first. Provided I have a way to get it to them.

I think one of the biggest challenges I see is the lack of dialogue, both in the prepper community and outside of it. Too be honest, I see the U.S. population dropping by 100 million in the first year of a complete collapse of our government. Starvation and decentralized governments that are not equipped to handle mass migrations from the cities...will be some of the results. I know this sounds almost inhumane, but I won't be surprised if some metropolitian people don't turn into cannibals, simply out of desperation. I can't see that the infrastructure because of the modern food distribution system will completely break down within the first week of social unrest. With NAFTA, Canada and the U.S. now depend on 70% of our material to be moved by tractor trailers, another 25% moves by rail (mostly bulk coal, lubricants, building materials, chemicals making up the rail) and 5% by air. So with a global event it will force mass migrations across the nation, where unlike the early 1800's it went from rural to urban, the reverse will occur from urban to rural.

I just got back from Disney World. All you have to do is go to the Walmart on Vine or the Walmart on the 192 and see how food distribution works and how it doesn't when you have a mass influx of people needing supplies. I will ask you, have you been to Walmart or a grocery store, where only 4 loaves of bread exist...well don't shop on a Friday night at these two places, because you will. A good example of what will happen when demand and supply don't anticipate or can't provide.

Anyway, didn't mean to be preachy. Again great video.

I am SO glad to have met you Silent Bob :) You have had incredible experiences!!! I would absolutely LOVE to help you with the music and intro.

For the intro: If you go to www.fiverrs.com they have a small selection of graphic artists that will take a logo and turn it into a 3 second intro. Here's a link to the video that I used to find out about the website in the first place and it shows you how to add the intro to all your videos automatically when they are uploaded, and how to add them to ones you've already uploaded. It was shockingly easy. It's a small selection to choose from but it only cost me $10 (I spent an extra $5 to have the background of my logo made clear), and I love the result. They promise a 24 hour turnaround but I had it within 6 hours. If you do go that route, I would first register with fiverr, then you first pay for it through paypal, then they send you a message saying they're working on it which paniced me because I hadn't given them the logo or my name, but I quickly sent them a message (the option to do that is on the same screen so you don't have to look around for it) attaching the logo and the wording.

For the opening and credits:
I LOVE iMovie for macs - it's incredibly easy to use. Let me know if you have iMovie and we can talk more about that - I don't want you to feel bad if you don't have it!
You can use youtube editor, they have great transitions, and you can create all kinds of opening and closing pages but they don't have the movement that iMovie has or the windows product - I know there's a windows editing program I think it's called moviemaker that lots of people like. If you end up using windows moviemaker, then I would search on youtube for a how to video OR go to www.ehow.com (they have the best written instructions on how to do things on youtube I have found!)

For the music:
log into youtube
hit your channel icon
hit "creator studio"
look to the left of the screen then hit the movie camera icon which says "create"
then hit the "audio library" there is all kinds of music from youtube that is free to use in your videos. You can download it into your computer and add it as a file when you edit your videos if you use a program on your computer, or add it using the youtube editor. I don't really recommend the youtube editor because you can't cut and paste the music in different spots, and you can't adjust the volume.

Let me know if any of that isn't clear!

Will send another post in just a sec.

I like your kind of preachy Silent Bob :) Thank you so much for your feedback & approval!! Your opinion means a great deal to me. I would love to hear more about New Orleans when you have the time. That was shocking for me to see onscreen. That was when I really woke up to the need to prepare. The number of people that were rescued by the Coast Guard, the stadium shots, all of it. How disturbing that people would take an advantage of an opportunity like that to feed their own ego "when I helped in Hurricane Katrina"....those people just chew up resources that could be used on volunteers who really want to help. And in a situation like that, it would take even more resources to deal with them.

Oh my word....the exaggerator with mental health issues!! I have never heard of anyone doing that but I can see how it could happen!!! Drama queens who use experiences like that to feel alive, and need to keep retelling the story to sustain those feelings. What a horrible thing to do to your wife, all under the guise of helping your family...

Fantastic that you've made a deal with the local church. It's that kind of thinking and behavior that will strengthen a community and build resiliency. I think you're absolutely right about the need to up the dialogue about these issues. I think the government is deathly afraid of being honest with us because of the fear of civil unrest. For those of us who are preparing, we shouldn't be afraid to speak about it. Climate change and the financial events of 2008/2009 have given us exactly what we need - reasons everyone can agree with for preparing. We no longer need to worry about being branded nutters, and I think we're deceiving ourselves if we think that we can survive if we strengthen only ourselves, and not our community. Lovely chatting with you :) I've got to head back to work.

love this forum for this; so much more info already in my little brain about first-aid besides what I got at work..

It was a surprise to me also, a very pleasant one :) there is alot that I can use when at work if needed and perhaps teach my colleagues a trick or two...atleast I upgraded my personal first-aid kit I'm carrying with me..

my primary job is inspecting tickets at my local transit company, but aside from that we remowe unruly passengers from trains, trams and metro and if needed give first-aid and call for help at the same time...sometimes those minutes can feel so long when you wait for the ambulance to arrive..
and some of my colleagues do fine in stress some don't..

Oh you are in the trenches! You will see people in all kinds of shape & situations. I think it's awesome that you are prepared & willing to help!!

I'll do what I can, first-aid is something I take more seriously, considering the amount of blades people carry here and other pointy stuff..I could get my salary perhaps easier but have good colleagues in my group which kept me there sofar..and in any shtf situation I know what to face looking at all them people there...

Oh, I never thought of that - blades...I like your attitude :)

Yup you are right about N.O., and W Mart. The mass migrations will be bad. Scary!! WishI knew you were headed to FL. You were less than 35 miles from us. Well maybe next time.
Good luck, be safe &God bless.
