On the news some protester was saying " We were slaves, brought here against our will, bought and sold like animals." If I were there, my reply would be, "my great, great, great grandfather fought for your freedom in the Civil War, along with 2. 2 million other white Union soldiers. Honestly, I don't know that for a fact, any more than they know for a fact that their ancestors were slaves. But I do know that hundreds of thousands of Union soldiers died simply to do the right thing, not expecting to gain anything for themselves. They gave their life for you.
