The "Sweden Approach" sounded great...until it didn't....

Swedish PM warned over 'Russian roulette-style' Covid-19 strategy
Criticism is mounting in Sweden of the government’s approach to Covid-19, with academics warning that its strategy of building broad immunity while protecting at-risk groups – similar to that initially adopted by the UK – amounted to “Russian roulette” and could end in disaster.

The prime minister, Stefan Löfven, on Sunday night called on all Swedes to accept individual responsibility in stopping the rapid spread of the virus as the number of patients in intensive care in Stockholm continued to rise sharply.

“There will be a few decisive moments in life when you must make sacrifices, not only for your own sake but also for those around you, for your fellow humans and for our country,” Löfven said in a rare public address. “That moment is now.”

But while the prime minister said “more invasive decisions” may yet come, he announced no further restrictions. “Everyone must do their part,” he said. “I understand it’s frustrating … But right now it is necessary.”

The Journal of the Swedish Medical Association has published a cautionary paper on the dangers, while the daily Dagens Nyheter has printed multiple strongly worded op-eds, including one on Saturday by by Stefan Hanson, an international health PhD, and Claudia Hanson, an epidemiologist.

“We see the situation in Italy,” the authors wrote, “and we are only a few weeks behind … We can’t surrender! The UK, which had the same strategy as Sweden, has now changed completely. It is Stefan Löfven’s duty to do the same in Sweden.’’

the only problem right now I have with Sweden, is we have also a common border with them and as they do shit for this, those infected will prolly pour over that border and overload our hospitals in north..and a few other issues, but I try to be polite..

The Sweden/Finland border is open for "essential travel" There are plenty of Swedes whose work is considered essential who live in Sweden and work in Finland and vice verse. I have an English friend who lives in Sweden and he said life hasn't changed except that more people work from home. I kind of want to see what the long term difference in numbers will be though. If all countries are doing the same we won't know if it was the right option. Maybe not the right analogy, but when doing a scientific experiment it is better to change only 1 variable.

each nation will have a different amount of persons to each square kilometer. Each has a different approach. Each president or minister will have a different source of information, different choices, different approaches which he thinks for his land is correct. We never know really what decision is the right one. If someone out there has all of the answers, he would be online and directing the world like a big orchestra!!! No one is tho. Each party of the opposition is trying to get into the power position in each nation on the planet and will tell us whatever THEY THINK the others are doing wrong and MAYBE they will get lucky and be right, but MAYBE they will be wrong and both sides only have a 50/50 chance of being right. So, shut up, sit down, take a breath, watch the news, keep calm and no panic or fake news. Thanks and we will discuss this all in a few years when ALL OF THE FACTS and none of the crazy ideas have been laid on the table. NOBODY HAS ALL THE ANSWERS...GP

but we had sunshine today.

LOL. Sorry Jontte, but if I don't laugh about it I would only go mad. The irony of the Finnish agency responsible for prepping forgetting to rotate its stock. This coming 2 days after they wrote an article in the paper telling everyone how prepared they were and even had a photo of someone standing by a pile of medical supplies.

yup,the only way to stay sane is to laugh at it, that's my way as I just got informed, first through the grapewine, then later from "the official" channel, that I have been exposed a second time...
what pisses me off is that the staff nurse at the ward who has my number didn't bother to call me and tell about this last one..

Accord to a friend so its totally UNCONFIRMED via his Danish fiance many Norge, Swedish and Finn prepper families have decided enough is enough, they no longer trust the state and they are bugging out to their hunting / fishing / weekend lodges and they aint coming back til its over. Also in some areas some medics so disallusioned with the state are resigning rather than work in under equipped hospitals.

Quote from that article...

"f there are rubber bands that are totally unusable and they can’t be used at all, then of course nobody will use them," said Hakola. "That’s a bit like putting on leaky boots, walking into the yard in the rain, and saying that your feet are wet."

Not quite Nesa Supply Director Jyrki Hakola. 1 will get your feet wet and the other could give you a deadly virus.
