Welcome to the group Cindy.
Hopefully it doesn't come to that point, but we must be prepared if it does.
Having been to the grocery stores and seeing the empty shelves and panicked people, I think we as preppers, should be ready to defend our supplies. I don't think it will come to violence honestly, but I do feel that people who know we prep will hound us for stuff.

I don't think it will go that far any time soon. But I suppose there is the possibility, depending on how the situation devolves down the line. Never say never, but hope for the best.

G'day the Yanks may not go towards martial law but much of europe is gradually militarizing slowly, UK mobilising 20,000 troops now, Spains army is helping authorities, French and Italian paramil police are deployed etc.

Yeah I knew about Italy, but not the other countries. Our PM has listed a whole bunch of new laws that are contradictory and most Aussie's are not impressed. Aaaahhhh good times

Given the politics of the upcoming election this November, I doubt that the United States would see martial law (at least on a national level). Martial law, even more than the Federal- and State-mandated laws presently in place to slow down the infection rate, would damage the economy severely; a bad economy is usually a bad thing for a sitting President during an election.

Also, given the bad blood between the President and the governors of the powerhouse states like New York and California, any attempt to impose a martial law scenario -- with the exception of Federalizing the states' National Guard -- would be ignored by most of the lower level governments (states, counties, cities, etc.)

I very seriously doubt martial law is coming. Just the opposite, the lock down is going to end much sooner than I expected, at least on the federal level. Then it is going to be up to each stat to decide what they are going to do about their lock down protocol. That is going to be fun to watch. Lock down OR economy, which will it be?
