Worrysome, I read about someplace that the locals have a mossy problem and they fight it by every few weeks everyone goes out around the neighbourhood looking for stagnant pools of water, natural, in guttering, in old tyres, etc basically anywhere that stagnant water can form and they put a few drops of engine oil onto the water that forms a thin film that the massy larvae cannot poke their air tubes through, thus suffocating the larvae.

Yes, it is "worrisome," as any mosquito borne disease could spread like wildfire if the mosquitos get a toehold. And a number of diseases we thought had been eradicated are now making a comeback in strains that are resistant to antibiotics..."superbugs."

We in the UK have had reports of Malaria mossies being found along the south coast, they blame climate change.
 
As of October 22, 2019, CDC has received reports of 35 confirmed cases of eastern equine encephalitis virus disease for this year, including 13 deaths. Cases have been reported from the following eight states: Connecticut (4), Indiana (1), Massachusetts (12), Michigan (10), North Carolina (1), New Jersey (3), Rhode Island (3), and Tennessee (1).
