No, it isn't low at all.

This is a BS headline, designed to insinuate that the company is suing the victims for money. When one actually READS the connected articles, you see that....

They do not seek money from the victims but do ask that a judge decide if the 2002 act is applicable, and if so, determine that future civil lawsuits against the company are not viable.

Basically, it is a defensive action to prevent the victims from suing the hotel. (which could face a potential multi-million dollar lawsuit). Since the hotel was certified by the DHS for taking adequate measures, they aren't at fault.

The shooter is. (as are those who positioned him, and covered up what is likely the WORST false flag op we've ever seen....but likely the BEST coverup we've seen of one). I mean, they shut every press outlet DOWN. It should be downright scary as hell, but folks just went ho-hum about it.

That's pretty low alright. But don't forget, we're talking about lawyers. The is nothing too low for those scum of the earth.
You know what the difference is between a lawyer and a catfish?

One's covered in slime, slithers around in the mud, is a bottom feeder, has poisonous spines, and will eat its own young...and the other's a fish.

A lawyer died, and was met at the pearly gates by St. Peter, who hugged him enthusiastically and kissed him on both cheeks.
"We never thought you'd get here," said St. Peter. "You're the oldest human who's ever lived...you're six thousand years old."
"I hate to contradict you," answered the lawyer. "But my name is George, and I died of a heart attack in court when I was 60 years old."
St. Peter frowned, and asked him to wait while he went to check the computer.
"Ok, we have it figured out," he said, slightly embarrassed. "We were going by all the extra hours that you billed your clients."

I know I'm going to get pummeled for this...

As far as strategies, this makes sense. If they just let things go, they'll face 1000 lawsuits. They will be in every courtroom in the state/nation. Even if they don't lose a single case, their legal bill will bankrupt them. So rather than waiting for their death by a 1000 cuts, they're doing the only thing that can save their business. Can anyone argue against this point?

In terms of their guilt, MGM didn't really do anything. How often do hotel guests show up with plenty of luggage? Who in the world wants a hotel to go through your luggage to make sure it's 'safe'? Nor would I expect a hotel to keep a swat team on standby for such an event. And if they have a small 'security team', what are they going to do? If you're getting $15/hr to wear a MGM security outfit, would you break into a room hearing those weapons firing? The bottom line is that the hotel is not at fault. This nutjob went in & did all the shooting, that's where the guilt and lawsuits should start and end.

I'm not saying I 'like' the MGM suing everyone. I'm not saying it's not a slimy thing to do. But as a strategy, I can see where it's a valid path to avoid shutting down the whole business. I'm more than willing to hear any alternative paths to avoiding legal death? If you don't have one, then maybe we agree?

I agree completely with your view here. They are only suing the ones that are suing them, and aren’t asking for money, just dismissal. If these people sue the casino and put it out of business, what good would it do, other than make some lawyers rich. The casino wasn’t negligent here, who would have imagined anyone doing such a horrible thing.

I read somewhere that the "Do not disturb" signs are being done away with by some hotels. OK, come on in, I'm on the shitter.
