Those are the items i have chosen, please give any suggestions or comments on my list and bag, I'm still a beginner prepper so i have a lot to learn. here is a link to the bag i have chosen ( http://www.vism.com/products-shooters-gear/range-bags-and-pistol-cases.html#pic12 )and i will post some pictures at a later stage as well. keeping in mind my work is very far from home so this bag may serve as a GHB as well and i always carry my BOB in the boot of my car. i have chosen the tactical black as to suit my working environment being in the film and media broadcasting industry.

the cellphones flashlight and taser, and headlamp..how are you gonna keep them charged up if you dont have electricity or a vehicle to recharge them?.im guessing the bag will be in your vehicle.so you'll need the proper clothes tent and/or tarp, sleeping bag, just in case you have to go on foot instead of drive the distance you have to go.maps of area where you work to where you live.plan diffrent routes.

this is my EDC bag that would serve as a GHB aswell.my other BOB is in the car, i need to carry my cellphones with me and i have a universal solar and mechanical charger in my bug out bag for my batteries and other low voltage devices. only after buying this bag i noticed so many other preppers used this bag as a EDC as well

Some other things I have in mine:

Sample packs of OTC drugs (headache, pain, cold/flu, etc.) - just replenish what you use
Camp Utensil Kit (Spoon/fork/knife) - good for lunchtime too
Spare pens - for other co-workers if needed (cheap ones)

Thanks the spare pens actually a realy good idea. As mine always goes missing at work due to others lending lol i just picked up a nice spoon.fork and knife in a all in one foldup setup. Not sure of the name as I bought it few years ago in dubia. But I recently found it n thought it would b a awesome addition. I also added and revised mini first aid kit, Shamak, some pratley steal, wire and some extra paracord

I was lucky and have an suv that has the spare tire mounted on the back door, but it had the well that normally would house the spare tire. It was a perfect place to fill an edc/emergency kit. I loaded it with everything from a machette, hammer, mre's, jumper cables, tarp, rope, med kit, etc. There's no way I could carry all that crap on my back, but it's out of site and there if I ever need it when near the car. Now if I can figure out where to stash some kind of kit on the motorcycle, as I ride it alot. I'll start thinking about that!

What the heck do you need a hard drive for?
Couldn't you just make do with a large capacity thumb drive? (or a few of such drives)

Why TWO cell phones?

I'd recommend a Solar Cell Phone Charger (with USB slots), to actually power all these gadgets. (it's also a flashlight). Only around $25.

Do you mean actual taser gun, or stun gun? Problem with those is the need to get real close. (and they take a LOT of juice to remain charged). Without a gun, you're better off with a good fixed blade knife and some high strength Pepper spray instead.

Rather than canned tuna, I'd recommend pouches. Check into the Mountain House dehydrated meals at Walmart though, as they are light and filling.

Firestarting tools are fine as a backup, but I'd really recommend a good Zippo lighter for an easier time.

I stepped on my phone last Friday. Completely inoperable now. I can't unlock it or even turn it off. I keep a spare that uses the same sized SIM card.

If you're in South Africa, is there any chance that you might get some desert training from the !Kung-san people who live in the Kalahari?

If I was as good in the boonies as some of these people, I wouldn't even need a bug-out bag.

EDC in the UK is generally what we carry on our person every day.
mine:
mobile phone. basic no camera, kept fully charged at all times, used for emergencies only.
spectacles.
watch.
belt with folding knife in a pouch.
bandana, used as a handkerchief.
key chain and keys(house).
car keys.
that's pretty much it.
I have a GHB which is kept in the car at all times, never leaves it.
