Of course this is all hypothetical.
Yes strictly, but protected by the first amendment. Books are a beautiful thing. I have been studying guerrilla warfare the last few years (books are in my library) and the communist have a lot to say.

To bad the morons don't read their own shit otherwise the protesting might be different.

As for me I am harmless unless SHTF happens or if they F with the Constitution. At that point when Patriots step up then I have something to say if they haven't already been taught professionally.

I have left out a lot of things but I think this stuff is interesting and effective.

You gut it and then reassemble it.

Seriously, with all the laws today, this isn’t anything for anyone to ‘experiment’ with today. If we do have a real shtf situation one day though, learning how to make defensive things like this is good knowledge though. Let’s just all hope we never need to worry enough about protecting our selves this much.

You are 100% correct. I don't build anything except for the caltrops. If a cop or federal agent we're to catch you with anything explosive or modified it would give him or her masturbation material for a week. You would go to prison.

If I were to be put in a position to have to pre build some stuff it would admittedly go into a cache.

Cache do not go on your own property. Public land or your neighbors if rural. Wear gloves no prints throughout the process.

I'm on my phone or I could type better and longer.

Any other questions?

I just wanted to reiterate that if the poop hits you have to have some kind of deterrent signs and you have to talk to your neighbors are get across to them that the back or side property line is not safe without giving away your defensive tools.

I would just say Mr Doe I got some security that will kill you and your family on my perimeter. Please come to the front drive to talk to me in an emergency or hide in the brush until you can come.

Something like that. If they ask what, just say some terrible shit and I can't talk about it.

I really do think that if security breaks down in this country that knowing how to make things like these is knowledge worth having. I have a feeling that 80% of the cops working right now would abandon their jobs to take care of their own families, so protecting your own family would likely come down to you. All I can say about those that think it could never happen in the good ole USA is to look around the world, and throughout history. Things change, that’s probably the only constant. Here’s to hoping it won’t happen in our lifetimes.

I believe that you are 100% right. When I was a correction officer some of us were talking about SHTF and the majority was F the prison I'm going home to the family.

If anyone wonders why so many veterans are preppers it is because we have have traveled. Many have seen the third world countries and what it is like living. Those who haven't, have talked to those who have.

I think we need to bear in mind that in general the objective after the SHTF is to make intruders of any flavour go some place that is an easier target rather that us getting into a slagging match of escelating violence. We need to " persuade" the intruders that the pickings are easier and less lethal some place else.

How would you do that?

Exactly as we have all been discussing above, if our homes etc are well secure, guarded etc most scroungers will go elsewhere, its only the hardened and most determined likely to keep at it. Walk down your average boulevard on a scavenging or looting trip, 40 houses in street, and Mr and Mrs Materiel Generals residence is fenced, razor wired, has a vicious Yorkshire Terrier or Minature Poodle and MG Junior is up on the eaves with a carbine which house will you try and loot ?

But make sure you retain a concealed escape route, Remember the Alamo.

OK, for some reason I was thinking you were talking on the pansy side. My bad. Glad I didn't come back as a smart ###. Guess it pays to keep your mouth shut until your for sure.

Yes most defiantly you have to have your area of occupation hardened but you HAVE to have patrols sent out as scouts to the four winds. You have to know at a distant what is out there and what threats are in the area. If you know there are 26 enemy combatants 20 miles away, you can prepare for it. You patrol may take some hit and run sniper action on them. If they are coming in your direction you can send out a couple patrols to block the road and do an ambush on them.

Now if you don't do some type of patrol you just may find an enemy on your doorstep and what are you going to do then. You wont even be able to bug out. This is one of the main reasons why I am so apposed to lone wolf. There is safety in numbers.

Daft lump :) Trust me when it comes to protecting my family there is nothing pansy about my attitude, One should also measure the EXACT distances from shooting positions at home to all likely spots that bad guys could hide and shoot from, mark the distance from home to tree, wall, corner, bin store, fenceline garage etc on a map and its easier to dial in your carbine sights.

Yes very correct. Are you military? In the military we use range cards. Every LP/OP and fighting position will make up a range card and a duplicate. The original stays with you and the duplicate goes to command. Here are some PDFs with the Range Card, some instructions and a link to a video.

Retired Sergeant Light Inf. ( My regiments forebears was the one that burnt down the White House, sorry bout that)

Perimeter motion lights would be a pain pre-SHTF for many. For me, the horses out at night, other animals, and even the occasional car passing would trigger them too much. Having them out there though, and just not on yet, would be a neat idea.

I'm a big fan of solar motion lights. Not just for security, but just convenience. No need to carry a flashlight when going out to the barn at night, or early in the morning.
